Mexico - Lagunas del Volcan

Day 1 of hiking and it was a good day! After a 2.5hr drive, we got out of the van at 13,500 ft in elevation. That was the same height I just hiked to in Nepal, and now we just drove that high.

The entire hike was 4 miles and took us to 14,080 ft and near two lagoons. It was a bright sunny day with a cool breeze. It was a good starting hike, even though it was high.

Our guide wanted us to jump in the lagoon for a polar plunge. I opted to just jump instead.

There is an option to do a hike around the higher points above the lagunas, however that would require a very early start and a lot more elevation gain. This is a good place to come for acclimation and a short hike at altitude. The views on a clear day are incredible.
