LIFECYCLES ECR ‘23 - Day 1
Drive from Lancaster, PA to Scarborough, ME
Bike from the Portland Headlight to the hotel in Scarborough, ME - 12 miles
We departed Lancaster at 7am, made two fuel stops, one lunch stop, and a few slow-downs or stops on the highways for traffic. It was an uneventful drive, which are the best kind.
After checking everyone into the hotel, everyone got into their biking clothes and hopped back into the van to drive to the Portland Headlight (11 miles northeast of the hotel).
The Portland Headlight is our official starting point, so a photo session was a must. Silas, an explorer and lover of forts, spotted an abandoned structure near the lighthouse, so we popped over for a visit and extra pictures before rolling back to the hotel. Dinner was picked up from a local Mexican restaurant and eaten at the hotel before we gathered in one room for a get-to-know-ya game, devotions, and talk about the upcoming rides.
It’s been a full day, so hopefully sleep envelopes everyone, because tomorrow is a 99-mile day!
