Argentina Day 8 - El Calafate
Our last full day in Argentina before our (let’s not count) hours of travel home. We tooled around the small town of El Calafate before starting our journey home. Around Lake Argentina is a bird sanctuary, however, it costs pesos to explore, so we skipped the entry fee and strolled along the lake boundary. We came to a park and tried out the swings and slides, before noticing the flamingos hanging out in the shallow waters. A few of us decided to climb the hill in town to a large grocery store, it was like a Costco met an Aldi’s. We had a final meal in town before heading to the airport for the first of 4 flights.
The weather has been perfect, the sights amazing, travel companions have filled the time with laughter, and my heart is filled with gratitude for another adventure completed. This team came together to help fund the work of American Foundation for Children with AIDS, so our hiking benefited children and families affected by AIDS.
With the hiking, glacier exploring, and walking around town, I figure I logged close to 50 miles in the last week. I have filled my camera with hundreds of pictures and my mind with so many memories. Until next time Argentina…
