Argentina Day 7 - Laguan Torre
Laguna Torre - 13.5 miles (because I did some extra climbing) - 114 pics taken and only sharing a few
Our last full day in El Chalten, so it was time for a bigger hike. The weather was perfect, and in the morning the clouds stayed away from the mountains. This trail is an out and back deal, so everyone could decide when they wanted to turn around. There were 8 of us that chose to do this hike today, and 8 that finished the entire trail. It’s always good when the numbers match.
We got to the glacier lake and AJ and I decided to climb higher to see where the trail went and how much trouble we could get in. We found a great rock to have lunch up above the lake. Then I wanted pictures from a huge rock a few yards away. This particular rock required some scaling, and nearly got both of us stuck, but we managed and have pics to prove our extra effort.
Once back in town, 4 of us went to a pastry shop and loaded up on some delectables. I came back to the room and had some hot tea and sweet treats.
As my phone was connecting with the outside world, I had 24 unread text messages waiting for me. In those unread messages, I learned some sad news about the passing of a family friend. It’s days like this that I cherish life, the opportunities it affords, and the relationships created along the journey. The mountains remind me of the majesty of our creator, and the fragility of my own life.
“I look to the mountains; where will my help come from? My help will come from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”
Psalms 121:2
