Our time is flying...
It's been difficult to get on the internet here because at the house they have to pay per bandwidth used, so I don't want to use up their time. There is internet at the school around the corner, but Jennifer has to be with me in order to use the internet. So, alas, there won't be much communication from us.
We managed to stop by the school today so that I could jump on and send a quick update. We had a break on Sunday and Monday from the art classes and used the time to do some touring. On Monday we visited some area temples and got to view the countryside on the way. I got some amazing pictures, but unfortunately I won't be able to upload them today.
Today, Tuesday, was our first day of art classes at the Indonesian school. We had a great time with the students. Crista was helping with the photography and creative writing class, while I helped with the aerodynamics class making paper airplanes. The students are full of energy and I'm looking forward to going back tomorrow.
Because I only get a few minutes to update the blog I haven't been able to share some of the more crazy stories of the trip. I'll try to add one today. The other morning I woke up at 4am and had to use the bathroom. The bathroom consist of a 4x4 room with toilet and shower each hugging one corner of the room. I opened the door and low and behold there was a cockroach on the floor (it took up half of the floor - well at least 3 inches of it). I managed to skirt around the cockroach because it was lying on its back. There was no way that I was going to kill it because there was no vacuum available (or Laura). So I went back to bed and thought someone will surely see it in the morning. Well, Jennifer got up about 2 hrs. later to take a shower. She went flying into the bathroom, barefoot and not paying attention to the floor. Splat! Her foot landed directly onto the cockroach. I had to apologize later for not taking care of it when I encountered the flying mammal earlier. Since then there have been at least 3 more cockroaches scurrying around, which they say is not normal. I'm blaming Crista for dropping her peanut butter cracker crumbs on the floor.
Hopefully we can add some pictures soon, otherwise I will add them when I return to the states. You are in our thoughts and prayers!
