Mexico - La Malinche National Park

Today’s hike took us to Huamantla in La Malinche National Park. It was a tree-lined path up to the first camp which took us 9.2 miles (r/t) up 2,664 ft of elevation gain to 12,898 ft. It was a gorgeous day in the trees!

I really liked this hike and wished we could have made it to the summit, but time didn’t allow for that to happen. I would do this hike again and try to stay closer to maximize the time to get to the summit. The path is very well-defined and a nice walk through the trees until the treeline above 12,000ft.

I did not expect this kind of hike in Mexico, so it was a pleasant surprise.
