Day 47 - What state are we in?
Day 47 - Tawas to Bridgeport, MI - 89 miles - 85 feet of elevation gain
This morning I hobbled out of bed at 6:45am and began getting ready for the day. Most days I’m ready to ride, but today I was struggling to get moving. It quite possibly has something to do with spending 3 hours on a jet ski yesterday, or maybe biking almost 2800 miles is catching up on me. Regardless of the reason, I was a little stiff and slow moving today. I was so thankful that today was light on the elevation gain, because my legs would have really revolted if there were hills. I was thinking today about how the Bible talks about strength in weakness (2 Cor, 12:9-11). Although I’m fairly certain it was not meaning weakness from physically demanding your body to perform like its 20-something years old.
We left Lake Huron this morning to head south. We have one more Great Lake to see, but it won’t appear for a few days. Once we left the lake the scenery started to change and we got to ride on some back roads. At one point we even talked about how much the landscape looked like Lancaster, because the fields of corn and soybeans. Our path took us on a rail trail for a short distance, a stony road, and some roads in need of repair. It was a good day, despite my body wanting to take a nap. So I’ll cut it short today because sleep is calling!
