Day 46 - Sun & Water

Day 46 - Alpena to Tawas, MI - 67 miles - 794 feet of elevation gain

I’ve determined that the weather in Michigan is fickle. It was in the low 60s yesterday and today by 11:30am it was 79 degrees. We were happy for the sun and the clear skies. The wind was in our face a little, but not too fierce.

We followed the lake all day. And had a few more PA-style rolling hills than I expected. This is good training for what lies ahead, which we won’t really talk about but know it’s looming.

Lee and Marcie, who founded LIFECYCLES, used to live in the town of Oscoda, MI during Lee’s Air Force career. Since we were pedaling right through the town, we took a short detour to take a picture in front of the home. While there we met the current neighbor to the house Lee and Marcie lived in. The couple were returning home from church and were excited to hear about our trip. We got our picture in front of the house and FaceTimed with Marcie.

When we arrived at the hotel lunch was waiting for use, thanks for the SAG support crew. Since our hotel was on the lake with a beach area. We began scheming for something to do for the afternoon. We opted for some fun on the water and had a great afternoon. I think this stop elevated to one of the top 5.
